USB Modem laa...

Wahaha (gelak jahat bercampur puas hati)

However it took me 6 months gak untuk ditimbang2kan, sama ada berbaloi tak nak dapatkan benda alah ni di samping pembayaran bulanan yang boleh tahan la jugak.

Sehinggalah sampai ke PC fair baru-baru ni, walaupun hajat di hati nak mendapatkan sebijik laptop bersaiz mini tapi hampa sebab yang Atom nyer range (8") semuanya takde CD drive. Adakah patut? (siapa tau laptop 8" atau 9" yang hebat specnya, jenama best dan ada CD drive, ehem serta harganya berpatutan i.e below RM2000 sila bagitahu saya dengan segera. Haha).

So far not bad, untuk promo masa PC Fair, for 7.2 Mbps, free for first two months, then pay monthly RM129 permonth sampai 18th months, habis contract je RM98 permonth and boleh terminate bila-bila masa.Modem is all yours, takyah lease2 cam Maxis. Harga modem? Activation fee? None. Modem pulak jenis plug and play so takyah takut, terus connect je :)

Performance so far ok, good.. tapi namapun broadband tak boleh la nak expect stability cam streamyx. Sometimes ada gak disconnected tiba-tiba tapi jarang la.Tapi memang wide coverage dan not much hassle eventhough try bukak kat area-area pedalaman.

Kalau jenis bajet outstation selalu and takde phone 3G yang dilengkapi Wifi serta embedded modem, dan ala-ala memang selalu usung laptop kehulu kehilir, saya recommend anda dapatkan USB modem broadband ni.

Saya pun tak berniat la nak compare dengan Maxis punya modem tapi my conclusion is the Celcom broadband deal ni memang not bad, especially tang coverage dia tu.

Discussion Celcom vs Maxis broadband:

Matter of choice

Situasi 1

Baru-baru ni kita digegarkan dengan tragedi tanah runtuh. Baru beberapa hari selepas kejadian banglo ranap di Ulu Yam, tragedi Bukit Antarabangsa pula berlaku. Maka ramailah yang menuding jari menyalahkan pelbagai pihak. Tapi saya rasa semua maklum, hujung-hujung tahun ni memang musim monsun mengganas.

Situasi 2

Quote dari whoever diambil dari Truth or Fiction tiba-tiba menjelma di minda saya;

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways , but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

Sangat lah benar.

Pernah tak rasa..

(Precaution : Don’t read this post as a person whom just had the worst day of her life. Imagine a person who had accepted everything happened to her, the good and bad, and felt grateful for everything and thankful as atleast she is able to breathe the next day. She just happen to take some time out of her daily life, sit at one corner and think the whys.)

Pernah tak rasa..

In working environment and in daily life,

We think we have planned everything smoothly, flawless. We almost sure it will happen, only a matter of time. We know that is the best plan ever as we almost cracked our heads for it, nothing can come in between. Suddenly, in a less than two minutes discussion, everything shattered into pieces and the plan go haywire.

We think we strived hard, harder than the rest to make things happen. We gave our 101 percent commitment and even get acknowledgements from the high ranked for that. But when the appreciation thing comes, you’re plain left out.

We think we’ve tried our best to talk to people, and (think we) successfully persuaded them to attend an event. They even asked so much that showed their genuine interest and ensure 99% they will attend. But when the day came, they just did not show their faces, without any reason.

We think we’ve given the best cooperation to others, help all our might to ensure something a huge success. Even if the whole thing is not even ours, we get our hands dirty and put our best effort. But when the time comes for us to need others’ cooperation, the only thing they provide are hundreds of excuses.

Some points learned:

1) Kita hanya merancang, Allah tentukan
2) Sometimes what we really badly want is not the best for us..
3) Tidak mengapa jika diri tidak dihargai, tapi bimbanglah bila diri tidak lagi berharga.. (pinjam Ami’s recent gtalk status)
4) Don’t ever feel we’re the best, the most treasured asset of the company, sometimes we’re just not there yet, and we did not even realize that. Somewhere I heard people say, “ Riak adalah apabila kita merasa diri kita sangat bernilai..”
5) Never expect we will get what we give, sometimes life is just cruel in nature
6) Never give up and always deliver the best you can give. As anything less than your best is a waste of the gift

Any additional advise, anyone? :)

Travelling (Again)?

Assalamualaikum wbt and good day.

This morning I attended a kuliyyah and the ustazah said, Islam encouraged people who have extra money to go sight-seeing and experiencing new world, and bukannya bershopping. (ahaha like a smack on the head!)

How true.

Just to reflect during my childhood days, I happened to study in an all girls school, ala2 sekolah bandar la jugak..multiracial school and most of the students anak-anak orang berada la kiranya. I felt so down la jugak when most of my friends boasted about their family, "My Dad studied in UK", "I was born in US", " I just came back to Malaysia when I was 10" those kind of kid talks. And I actually experienced none at that time. And I did hope and pray that I would eventually set my feet on those countries someday, insya Allah.

Once when I came back from school, I went to my Dad and asked, " Abah, kenapa abah tak belajar kat oversea dulu?"
"Oh.."
And I still remember I marah sangat dengan my Dad's scholar provider!! Yelah kalau tak mesti I pun mesti boleh berlagak cakap my Dad graduated from oversea jugak kan (Alhamdulillah Allah didn't give me the chance, kalau tak dah dapat dah dosa berlagak=riak:P)

Then, I prayed my big brother dapat study kat oversea so I get the chance to visit him once in a while, but apparently he's not and just studied locally.Fine.

Later on after SPM, I tried to get myself to study abroad, and after a lot of interesting and unfortunate circumstances (believe me, alot!!), I was stuck in a local uni as well. I felt down for a while but I never regret this to happen. I was destined to be :)

Meanwhile, me and the whole family enjoyed Discovery Channel, Travel and Living, and other similar documentaries..we also enjoyed reading atlas and maps, wishing we will go there one day. Tak salah berangan kan..

Then, Abah got his license, the family's financial became considerably stable and then the whole ritual of frequent travelling started.

Alhamdulillah, for the past five years, I travelled abroad more than I ever did in my life, thanks to my parents (of course I was sponsored, I cannot afford it on my own, anyway) . While some of my friends get the opportunity as they studied abroad , some had parents and relatives stayed abroad and got the chance to visit them , and some had their job took them everywhere around the world, where they never had the experience before in their life. I believe that now, in the present world, travelling and going abroad were not considered rare and was not an exclusive hobby for the rich and wealth, anymore.

Now, everyone can fly (pinjam tagline Air Asia). Too many low rates flights, too many destinations, too many promotions to encourage people to spend their money in tourism industry.Or perhaps, Malaysians style of living is very much improved,Alhamdulillah. Its not rare now to see students going to UK with friends during summer break, new executives taking long off-days to enjoy winter in Beijing, newly wed couples honeymooning in Hong Kong and Bali..and the list goes on.

I'm not really sure where this post heads to, but I really hope those who had more opportunities to travel abroad to take the chance and look for tanda-tanda kebesaran Allah..they are always there.Lagi jauh kita berjalan, lagi banyak kita akan belajar and don't hesitate to share with the others too.Previously, I always felt reluctant to share my overseas experience, takut la kena cop berlagak ke ape kan, but I believe it relies more to your niat, and people will perceive well. To share is to care :)

Experiencing Makcikhood

These past few weeks had been exciting for me. I've got to take care my little nephew whom will turn 2 months in few days time.

For some, this might be a day to day routine but for me, all this were extremely new. I've got a brother when I was 3, I don't have any experience taking care of my little cousins and my Mom never babysits anyone.

So when Hazim arrived last weekend and stayed the whole 3 days for Raya Haji in my house (biasanya dia datang kejap2 je, or stayed overnight. Most of the time dia kat rumah atuk lagi satu), my makcikhood instinct was tested. Ahaha.

Jaga baby ni is a weird experience, yet interesting. Masa belum pernah jaga baby, memang excited gila nak tunggu my SIL delivered and tak sabar nak tolong jaga baby tu..(siapa tak suka baby kan). Baby is always adorable and cute and playful, nak-nak my nephew ni sangat aktif dan dah terer gelak walaupun umur tak sampai 2 bulan lagi.

Tetapi...

Baby tantrums are unavoided. Si Hazim bertuah ni memang bertuah, pantang letak je kat tilam dia nangis, kalau tak angkat meraung2. Bukan nangis2 comel tu ye, dia nangis cam kena pukul tu. So orang kat umah tu take turns pegang dia,dah tu bila pegang je dia tido. Pastu bangun nangis mintak susu and tido lagi. Time nak sendawa pun payah sangat si kecik ni sebab dia boleh mamai-mamai and tido masa kena tepuk nak burp kan dia. Bertuah betul anak buah aku sorang ni..kalau mengeliat and menguap pun nangis gak, padahal dia sendiri yang buat tu. Kita tak usik pun.

Paling best I learnt to take care of Hazim. Dari tukar nappy, sapu minyak telon, baby oil, bedak, baby lotion, pakai barut, pakai mitten and booties, pakai baju and seluar. I didn't know that siapkan baby ni must be in sequence. Pastu belajar mandikan baby. The good thing is Hazim ni suka mandi, lepas mandi je good mood dan mula bercakap ngan orang tapi baby talk la (macam ooh dan aah) dan membuat sound effect (kat mana la belajar tu). So saya sebagai makcik best bercakap la ngan dia.. siap pi luar rumah tunjuk "Ni kucing", "Ni pokok", " Ni kereta MyVi" "Eh hari dah hujan la Hazim" yelah the expets said that eventhough babies at his age could not understand what people said, but the brain has started to process the things that he hear and see. New things learned : Never knew minyak telon brand Bebiku smells so good. Rasa nak curik je.

Besides, I learned how to make baby's formula milk. Rule of thumb : must be the right mixture of milk and water, and warm. Memang le senang je buat susu tapi kalo dah sehari dalam 10 kali (dia pakai botol kecik tu), lenguh gak mak ngah. Pastu baby sorang ni susah nak burp, suruh burp dibantainye tido (walaupun masa tu dia tengah duduk), then once in a while bila tengah dukung dia muntah susu sikit2. Selamat la baju semua orang. My luck was when I wore a brand new shirt, wahahaa padan muka saya. Kesimpulan : Jangan pakai baju baru masa tengah dukung baby. Haha and then lepas basuh botol2 susu dia tu, pakai sterilizer plak. New things learned : Baru tahu sterilizer comes in tablets.

On raya's eve I experienced handling baby perut kembung..abis sumer orang berjaga sebab baby nangis tak berhenti (Tapi atuk and abah dia dah selamat di alam mimpi la.. as usual). Macam2 minyak guna, penat nangis dia berenti kejap pastu sambung lagi..sampai la kul 1-2 pagi.
Tula sikit sebanyak kisah seorang makcik.Kalau saya ni makcik jaga 3 hari pun dah rasa penat, mak ayah dia lagi la.. biasanya diorang siap ada shift untuk jaga anak tengah malam. Pastu I think this is a good training ground for me la, for future preparation..

*experienced difficulties to post pictures. Will post later, insya Allah.Update with a picture

On high impact presentation and inspirational talk

Assalamualaikum wbt and good day.

I love listening to inspiring talks by the high ranked, charismatic people. I know most of us do. It feels so good to hear them talk, their wisdom shows in every moves, gestures, words and sounds.

During my uni days, I love listening to my Chancellor and my Rector's speech. Those two are among the most influential leaders, at least for me, during my uni days. Eveytime they deliver a talk in any occasion or engagement session, I won't miss the opportunity to listen to them, regardless whatever topic they deliver. I know that sometimes not all the points given can be accepted, but nevertheless I just love to hear them, to know what they have in mind in a particular topic.

Here in my organisation, there's more opportunity to listen to these big shots, as many engagement sessions, talks, forum and seminars being held. I love the impact of these successful men (or women) aspiring people, they make the audience engaged until the end and the young ones dreamt to be just like them one day. At least, they make ME feels that way.

One thing I realised is, the higher your position is, the more people will listen. That's one of the advantage of being in control. You hold the power to influence other people.

I recalled my recent experience while handling a seminar just a week ago. One of the speaker (whom I personally adored for his perfect quality of a leader, and eventually he gained success at a considerably very young age) talked about integrity, a classic necessities that is lacking in the heart of employees of most organization in the world. As he was aware his audience are professionals with vast experience, he knew it is no use to elaborate about the definition of integrity, and how it will affect your employment if ever you get caught. Well, those way of elaborating is only suitable for the young execs, but these are matured (read : old) people with many years of experience, certainly different ways of delivering the message of integrity is needed!

So, guess how he delivered the message to his audience?

He started with some definition from Stephen L Carter book. Hey, these people are professionals man, everything they hear must be supported with facts and figures! Later he gave some real examples on the impact of greed and corruption, among which are the humiliated takeovers and bancruptcy of the two giants, Lehmann Brothers and Merril Lynch. Their mighty empire collapsed simply because of their attitude; their breach of trust and lack of integrity.

Furthermore, he took several verses from the Qur'an and hadith and elaborated in a simple and smooth way that touches the depth of heart. As integrity strongly related with responsibility or amanah, he quoted the hadith below :

Sabda Rasulullah SAW :
“ Tiada Iman bagi orang yang tidak Amanah dan Tiada Agama bagi orang yang tidak menepati janji “
[Riwayat : Imam Ahmad]

Sabda Rasulullah SAW :
“ Umat KU akan sentiasa berada di dalam kebaikkan selagi mana mereka tidak menganggap Amanah sebagai punca kekayaan dan sedekah sebagai hutang”
[Riwayat : Imam Ahmad]

Later the speaker amazed me even more, I heard the word `Qana'ah' being used for the first time by a man with a CEO status in my organisation. Qana'ah in context of upholding integrity can be explained as contentment, which is not the fulfillment of what you want, it is the realisation of how much you already have. He also added that the happiest people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that come along their way.

Lastly, he ended his talk with a message 'Kehidupan adalah Ujian, dan Dunia adalah Perhiasan", supported with a beautiful verse 7 of surah Al-Kahfi, as below:

"Sesungguhnya Kami telah menjadikan apa yang ada di bumi sebagai perhiasan baginya, untuk Kami menguji mereka, siapakah di antaranya yang terbaik perbuatannya."

It was that sweet and simple, wrapped perfectly in thirty minutes, and earned the loudest applause from the audience. I was amazed on how his simple his presentation slides are, yet he made a very high impact to the audience. I guess his experience as a CEO and a high impact speaker helped a lot as well. To verify the success of his talk, he got the highest rating among the other speakers in the event. Well deserved, what more can I say.

So you know, the same message conveyed by a laymen compared to the same message conveyed by a high-ranked person really had a huge difference. I've heard the same message being told in a Ceramah not long ago, but it hardly made an impact to the audience. Again, it is the power THAT influence people, which leads TO influence people in an impactful presentation.

I wish to master that skill and be like one of them some day.

If Allah's will, insya Allah.

Quick tips on Paris trip

Eurostar station in Paris.. the Gare du Nord.

My mum's friend just called her for some advice on a trip to Paris..

If you're a first timer, I think this will be beneficial for you too.

0. The first thing you must do when you reach Paris is to GRAB A MAP. These Frenchmen are usually either refuse to talk in English (they're too proud anyway), or they don't know a word in English. But of course, not all. Some are very nice (and handsome, no kidding). They dressed smartly even for a leisure walk on the park.

1. Almost all famous places for tourist can be reach via metro(the intercity train). So don't bother catch up a taxi or rent a car.

2. You're not encouraged to bring imitation bags (made in Siam or elsewhere but France) of brands which are originated from France, i.e Gucci, Prada or LV. If you're unlucky enough and get caught, you might be arrested.

3. For ladies and mums, one compulsory place for you to stop for a very cheap but high quality French lace is at Anvers, a few stop from the Eurostar stop station , Gare du Nord. Seriously, it is CHEAP. You can get the usually RM450/m in Jalan TAR for just RM400/ 4 metres with fancier designs! Highly recommended for bride-to-be ehehe.

4. If you eventually happen to be in London, Paris is just two hours away via Eurostar. Boleh je nak balik hari.

5. Eiffel Tower visit is a must, and the nearest metro (train) stations are Bir Hakeim or Trocadero.

6. To find a mosque/prayer room in Paris is very very hard, so I do encourage the Muslims to dress well (long overcoat, jubah, tudung menepati piawai) and alway equipped your handy bag with sejadah kecik, who knows you'll be praying under the trees or stairs.

7. As usual, travelling in summer is a whole lot easier as you can get up to 12 hours of daylight and easier to perform your solat.

8. Equipped yourself with a knowledge oon V.A.T . You might save a few hundreds EURO when you shop! (never heard of it? Try ask Pakcik Google)

Ame and Kak Lynn (with Hazim dalam perut.. ehehe)

Hope these quick tips helps! :)

What would you do if..

What would you do if.. you like the challenge in your office work but you hate your immediate boss?

First, you have to identify the root cause of the hatred feeling :

Why you hate your boss?

1. The boss is not a good role model (balik awal, selalu MC, selalu EL, keluar ofis tak cakap ngan subordinate, not efficiently managing subordinates)
2. You perform all your boss' work and never get recognition for it
3. When something screw up, you always take the blame (instead of your boss)
4. When you kena hentam dengan your big boss, he just stood there, silent and do nothing
5. When again, something screw up, he tried to push the blame to everyone but himself.
6. You're the one who always stay back to meet the big bosses since your immediate boss always not in office
7. You always get calls from him, asking you even the tiniest questions whenever you're out of office i.e going training, MCs, or ALs
8. The boss curse when he mismanaged things i.e silap antar email (I hate people cursing!)
9. The boss never motivates his subordinates, but expect perfect delivery of work
10. The boss kalut gila, dan kalau dia kalut akan membuatkan subordinates semua kalut sekali (you know, impossible demands, etc)
11. You feel like you never will perform under his supervision
12. .. and the list goes on

What you can do?

First, you must understand the situation.

1. Maybe the boss has family problems (i.e family members sick)
2. Maybe the boss has financial problems (although he seems rich)
3. Maybe he hates his job
4. Maybe he has not attend any stress management training
5. Maybe he hates his boss
6. Maybe he plans to resign sometimes soon

..and plan for your next action.

1. Ignore the negative vibe and continue work as usual
2. Take any opportunity comes, i.e going training, forum, workshops, etc
3. Best opportunities to spread your network by communicating direct with other managers and higher management in the department
4. Ignore him whenever got the chance
5. Tell him the truth in the best manner
6. Pray your immediate boss will get a transfer letter soon
6. Plan where to go next (after you leave the department.. ahaha)

On Bankcrupcies and Economic Meltdown

I was in a quest to find simpler elaboration on the U.S economic meltdown detail. In fact, we've heard about Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, but do we realise that those are just nicknames? I just discovered that Tun had helped to explained this issue in simpler and understandable way.

Taken from www.chedet.com :

22. Fortunately for us we succeeded in stopping the trade in Ringgit and restoring its value. But the system is still in place. And now it is the US Dollar which is devalued.

23. But trading in currencies is only one of the abuses. The banks are lending more money than they have. They actually go to the people to persuade them to borrow.

24. Their clients can borrow 100 per cent of the money to buy a house for example.

25. They need not worry about paying or servicing the loan. The price of the house would appreciate. You may even have a second mortgage. You may even sell at a profit.

26. In the meantime the bank would register the loan and add the projected earnings from interest maybe over 20 years. That done the bank can put all the loans together and sell it to the hedge funds at a discount after adding potential interest.

27. The more risky the loan the higher would be the interest and the higher would be the profit. The hedge funds which buy the loans can basically sell the mortgages to investors in the fund or to the huge Government financed Federal National Mortgage Association, nicknamed Fannie Mae, and the Federal Home Mortgage Corporation, nicknamed Freddie Mac.

28. Now the hedge funds and the banks would feel safe and enjoy the huge profits that they have made.

29. But when hundreds of thousands of house buyers find themselves unable to pay simply because they have no money, and could not sell the houses and could not borrow from banks, Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae would not be able to pay the hedge funds. Then the hedge funds would collapse and drag down the banks with them.

I guess the explaination worth.

Stop Daydreaming

Intro:
It's been a while since I posted a real (lengthy so called article) post.. been tight with work and stuff. Hence the `sebaris dua' and sole photos in my previous three entries. Believe it or not, usually I spent hours just to write a single post, and I to have the peace of mind and relax condition. Thus whenever I wrote a lengthy one, it is best to assume that I was at home (my parents' home) during weekend, as my rent house do not have internet connection.Just wait until I got myself a PDA and a broadband subcription (entah bila la tu kan...huhu) .Curi-curi blogging during office hours just don't work for me (anymore, with this current job workload). Ok, here goes.

The latest scenario of the world observes the critical economic downfall, some said the worst in American history ever. This is so serious, that forced US government bails out several banks and two multi-billion mortgage companies, for fear that the ban of these insititution would trigger economic collapse. Quoted from a report on the two mortgage companies, in Telegraph.co.uk ,

"Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac guaranteed about half of all of the home loans sold in the United States, but had run into severe difficulties as a result of the plunging American housing market which had seen hundreds of thousands of American home owners default on their mortgages.

Shares in both companies had fallen by more than 80 per cent in the last six months. The US government announced it would take control of the two companies, wiping out the value any shares that shareholders owned in the company."

To make everything worse, the same scenario also experienced by UK.

And it is just plain understood that when something this big hit the gigantic US and UK government so badly, this surely will affect the whole world, sooner or later.

With this alarming progress, how can we assure that we won't be affected at all?

Recently we've heard talks from the big players of various industries, they have started expressing worries in foreseeing the future to come. Natural resources are critically declining, investors are more attracted to invest in China than South East Asia, considering better benefits being offered by respective government and cheaper labors. The government-owned or privatised R & D companies are generally, not doing so well in acquiring and developing new technologies for betterment of our lives. Also, the senior management started commenting on the lack of quality in the younger talent pool. They complained that some of the youngsters are not capable enough, too materialistic and money-oriented, and might go the extend of egoistic and demanded too much. Well, deliberating on the young talent pool issue only might require for another new post altogether, thus I shall stop here.

Bottom line is, we are having major problems, tremendous ones, but did we realise it?

I won't touch about the local political issues, as they are always boiling and burning ever since the March Election. Political parties collided, people getting arrested and sentenced to ISA (yes, sentenced, it serves as a punishment already as the victims had been judged blindly), the hot by-election and a handsome comeback of a PKR de-facto leader to the parliament, and many more sensational political walks and talks. Out of everything, the rakyat still does not see any major changes or enhancements done by our appointed leaders. Even if there were a few, they are still considered very little.

Thus apparently, the perfect life we perceive is, unfortunately not so perfect anymore. Despite our daily shopping spree, joyous vacation, work routine and everything enjoyable in between, we shall spend time to sit down and think on the serious change of climate that we experience recently.

And stop daydreaming.

My Raya Tips and Tricks

In my case saya ni bertuah gak sebab ada rumah sepupu dekat ngan kampung wan (read: nenek) yang adik beradik dia semua perempuan, so memang I port situ je la setiap kali raya, senang la kan takyah la I control sangat haha.

Pakcik-pakcik (yang takleh disalam) pun dah biasa dah kalo aku takmo salam diorang, kalau dulu kena gak la panahan pandangan slack.

Lepas tu masa balik tu confirm orang tu tak hulur tangan lagi punya sebab dah faham.

Tip 3 : Biasalah kadang-kadang kalau beraya ni jenis tak ingat kan, kalau boleh 8 rumah sehari nak habiskan. Kalau nak senang, rancang perjalanan dan masukkan waktu solat sekali. Kalau open house tengah hari sampai petang tu solat la dulu sebelum pergi, ataupun dah budget dah dalam perjalanan kat mana nak singgah solat, rumah sapa ke, masjid mana ke. At least kalo drag masa bersembang lama pun takpe sebab dah solat. Untuk kaum wanita ni bawakla sekali telekung, kalau malas nak bawak satu set bawak socks and telekung je la, kain takpayah. Ataupun kalau dah baju menepati pawai tu takyah bawak telekung pun takpe.

Trick 3 : Untuk yang menganjurkan open house pun kena la sensitif sikit, agak-agak dah waktu solat tu readykan lah sejadah and tempat proper untuk tetamu solat. Ataupun tunjukkan saja masjid/surau yang berdekatan. Biar kita ni biasakan budaya`solat-friendly' sikit. Benda ni inspired me masa semalam bila ramai kawan beraya kat rumah saya and kebetulan waktu Maghrib, diorang ni siap solat berjemaah lagi walaupun limited space and sejadah ada 2 je.

Salam Aidilfitri :)

2nd raya

2nd raya.

Second raya, since this year we're not going back to Kedah, is a `rest day' for my family. Today we do our groceries shopping, filling up kuih raya in fancy bottles and welcoming anyone who happen to beraya on the second day.

Thus, I've plenty of time for blog hopping today, and enjoy my favourite piece of blog for today in below link :

Blog best yang kena baca walaupun di hari raya

Ok since then, esok boleh la mula aktiviti beraya dan menerima tetamu di hari raya.

You're invited too!

Selamat Hari Raya !

An encounter with a psychotherapist

Last few days, I came across a pre-presentation by a doctor, she's actually a psychotherapist and hypnotist by profession. Just knowing her position made me shivered and wondered, will she hypnotize me and the rest of us who attend the presentation into engaging her for our project? Haha, just a silly thought ( tapi logik, kan?).

Her main focus was to manage stress among professionals, and I was quite interested in her few theories which mainly obtained by research and also by experience.

Sexy photo

Some interesting scene during the presentation was when she showed a super sexy photo of an American woman (not sure American ke British, but orang putih la for sure), and of course, we, the attendees, mainly Malays and Muslims, were disturbed by the photo. My boss proposed her to change to other pictures as obviously, the picture was inappropriate indeed. Guess what was her reaction?

"This picture serves its own purpose. When you are actually disturbed by the sexy woman photo, then you're actually under stress and could not control yourself to get distracted".

Ah, pulak dah. All of us exchanged smirks and rolled eyes, some even burst into giggles. Rupanya camni therapist berfikir. I don't want to judge her but let me just light you with some details. She's at her early 50's but still looks radiant and `modern', with fashionable clothes and what nots. You get what I mean.

My boss counter proposed by suggesting the doctor to change the picture, at least to the more decent one. And what was her response?

" Oh I see, this organization seems to be very protective of its employees. Don't you know they've seen worse picture than this in their daily life?"

Ahh sudah..memang la some of the audience had seen worse pictures tapi itu bukan persoalannye...aih.Finally after some justifications, we reasoned by saying at least we're not going to highlight this kind of picture in a formal session, hence the proposal of changing the picture. And at last, the doctor agreed to change the picture for her real presentation later. This argument about a single picture merely took twenty minutes! Wait until our big boss hear about this. Haha.

Therapy of gratefulness

One interesting concept highlighted by her is the way we recite our doa after prayers. She bluntly pointed out that most of us are not sincere in our prayers, and some even don't know what to say/ask to Allah during doa. Most of us just follow the way our ustaz/imam recites the doa in segregation prayers, while actually there are various ways to convey doa so that it is meaningful and impacted us as well.

Instead of the conventional way to recite prayers, i.e

"Ya Allah ya Tuhanku, aku berdoa agar aku dikurniakan kesihatan yang baik, kurniakanlah aku kemudahan dalam urusan, kurniakanlah ketabahan dan kekuatan, jauhkanlah aku dari kemungkaran dan kesengsaraan.."

She actually suggested a new approach in doa recitation, called therapy of gratefulness. By modifying a little bit the above example of doa, the new version is as below :

"Ya Allah ya Tuhanku, aku bersyukur kerana aku dikurniakan kesihatan yang baik, aku bersyukur kerana aku dikurniakan kemudahan dalam urusan, aku bersyukur kerana aku dikurniakan ketabahan dan kekuatan, aku bersyukur kerana dijauhkan dari kemungkaran dan kesengsaraan.."

It worked fantastically for her patients as it also influenced our sub-concious mind into believing that Allah had actually granted our prayers, and we will be more optimistic in our upcoming life. Our Ultimate Creator will eventually grant our prayers, but just the matter of time. Just imagine if we did this every day, won't it change our perception and the way our mind perceive the world? I guess it would :) The Westerners also starting to highlight the concept of `gratitude' every time before they start their day, much similar to Islamic concept of berdoa lepas bangun tidur that shows our gratitude to Allah. They actually adopt our practice!

I guess there are other interesting points in her presentation, but let me just stop here. I don't want to kill the limelight :)

Cheers, salam Ramadhan dan salam Aidilfitri :)

P/S : Interesting tak my profession? I'm actually doing this as part of my formal task, and will be evaluated in my KPI..err hehe :)

Tag akhirnya

Akhirnya terbuka jua hati nak buat tag setelah meng ignore beberapa tag sebelum ini. Nie Kakak Bijoux punya la nie.. since dia dok jauh dan kemungkinan tak balik raya I pun buat la kan for the sake of her. Haha (bajet kan saye, kak??) ok here goes :

1) First airplane ride
When I was 16, KL - Langkawi via MAS.
Masih ingat sebab masa tu beristighfar sepanjang 45 minutes ride tu dan kecut perut masa take off dan landing.. muka pucat sampai tak berani nak minum air oren yang stewardess bagi. Ni pengaruh tv banyak sangat laa nie.. asyik tengok cerita kapal terbang terhempas huhu

2) First time I gave birth
Not married yet :P

3) First time overseas
Masa umur 11 tahun to Singapore. Adalah sangat excited and rasa best gila sebab dapat round Sentosa Island and naik MRT dia tu round city (eh betul kan MRT? ke apa entah abbreviation dia). Masa tu kan KL takde LRT lagi :)

4) First time living away from your family
Away tapi taklah jauh sangat, setakat masuk sekolah asrama penuh dalam sejam setengah dari rumah. And was there for five good years, love every moment of it. I'm such a hostel type.

5) First time I had a real job
Intern tak kira kan? Never had part time job..
Real job must be in the hectic electronics manufacturing company for four months, early this year..good experience though.

6) First time I felt I was fat
Tak pernah kot? Eh pernah, when I was in Form 1. I ate too much chocolate masa tuh, since my parents always provide me Dairy milk chocolate supply without fail every two weeks. Memang gemok la masa tu.

7) First time in love
Erm, skip lah soklan ni (hehe)

8) First time I felt I was beautiful
When I was in kindergarten, when I got to wear this gaun kembang hijau (my kindergarten takde uniform, so boleh pakai sesuka hati). Sebab my mum selalu tak bagi pakai gaun kerana anaknya ini sangatlah `baik' tapi kekadang I memberontak so kena la bagi pakai. Btw I ada sebijik je gaun kembang pun.. (haha kelakar la good old days. .:)

9) First time at the cinemas
Tak tau kenapa tapi sangat la ingat. Tengok cerita Fenomena (yang Ramona Rahman berlakon tu, tak silap lagu tema dia Isabella) masa umur 7 tahun. Actually my maid masa tu nak tengok so my parents suruh I temankan kakak tu pi wayang la.. tak silap first time for her too :) Tapi ni dulu2 la, sekarang I tak layan wayang2 nie huhu

10) First time admitted in hospital
Don't think I've ever been admitted. Thank God for my good health, alhamdulillah. <- same je jawapan ngn kakak Bijoux, malas nak tulis so copy paste jer. Hehe~

Ok tu je, sapa ada kelapangan and nak buat sila laa, kalo taknak pun takpe..

Paths walked through..

Assalamualaykum and good day.

OK, begini. Most of my respective readers knew that I came initially from a technical background, yes, I graduated as an Electrical & Electronics engineer, majoring in Control System and Instrumentation. But currently I'm doing management work , with only minor technical exposure involved for my daily job. However, we are encouraged to undergo plant familiarization attachments and we can still go for technical skills training eventhough we're not particularly doing hands-on work. And I'll be staying in my current job insya Allah, only for one or two blessful years before I actually pursue my career as a real engineer. That's how the position is designed, just for brief management exposure for the newbies.

Well, how I got stuck in this position is a very interesting question. I'm not really agree with the word `stuck' because its not that I hate the job.. I am not particularly madly in love with my current job either. Besides it is destined by Allah for me being here, I think the way I managed my answers in my interview session landed me to where I am right now.

Well back then, during the interview, I was so screwed up with my FYP, I can't even think straight. I considered myself as a miserable engineer-to-be, and was just not meant for engineering job. Ok, don't let me start on how I end up in my university, taking a course that I dreaded for long. I knew this is my destiny, and surprisingly I enjoyed my stuff after a while.

So you know, back in the interview room, I had a mixed feeling, whether to state that I prefer technical or non-technical field.I always enjoyed my side-work in campus i.e organizing events, joining societies, meeting people etc. so I guess I'll be more suitable doing management work...and stress as a final year student adalah tidak membantu langsung.Hence, I told the interviewer that I want to experience both, technical and non-technical field.I love management work but I was too reluctant to let go my technical knowledge just like that. So, ta-da! Here I am. Ni lah apa orang kampung cakap.. be careful on what you wish for, because you might as well get it.

Before my current job, I had a temporary job that really made me appreciate my technical skills and knowledge. I was forced to learn things fast, back-to-back training sessions and worked in hectic, buzzing engineering labs really kept me energetic, especially as I was involved in my most favourite field, electronics. So after a few months and finally managed to keep up with the pace, and kind of liking it, well then, the offer for my current job came. I had no choice but to accept as it is, I consider it as a bless in disguise.

OK enough on the background story, I didn't intend it to be too long. Sorry, but if I did not include it nanti you guys tak paham pulak.Huhu.

My first impression of doing management work was come on, of course it won't be as hard as technical work. The work must be less, and I can go back at 5pm every day. Setakat management work kan, there's no technical papers to crunch, or engineering conferences to attend, or technical reports to be submitted. Totally heavenly features.

But after a month, I knew I was totally wrong. Yes, it is not mind-boggling in technical sense, but management work means you have to manage your tasks, do multiple tasks at once and make sure everything is smooth flowing. And you are responsible for each part of it. And mine is even crucial as it is related to people's assessments, appraisals and career progression. Any tiny details missed might cost a fortune to someone. Another challenging part is you have to deal with people! Yes, people with different attitudes, different demands. Interesting yet tiring.

I've to work around the clock, sometimes I do need to stay back for a few hours to get the job done. Maybe it is also because I need to cover other person's job, as currently there are a vacant position in my team.

So people, whoever preferred management work just because it looks easier in the surface, think again. All work either technical or not, is equally busy. But it also depends on your nature of work and position too, ada je my colleagues who go back at 5 pm every day, ada jugak yang go back at 10 pm. It's all depends.

On a positive side, my current job is quite exciting,as we managed to meet the high ranked people in the company, the MD/CEOs, the specialists in their respective engineering fields, the advisors and team leaders, resource persons as well as other important people. They aspired people and their wisdom is something that is treasured for life. Also, I still need to organize events, one after another and travel a few times in a year every now and then. So takde la I bosan stuck in office je every day, doing the same job :)

OK so much about my work experience, just an ordinary one. I know other people had their own exciting stories to tell on their current job. But mengambil kata-kata kakak Bijoux ; "Everybody thinks that everybody else has got a life story that is great, more perfect and way more exciting".

No truer words spoken :)

Have a nice, blessful Ramadhan everyone!

Down with fever -_-

First and second day of Ramadhan, I was down with fever. A whole complete package with bad flu/cough/sore throat. Tapi puasa tetap puasa ok. Never thought having fever during Ramadhan was quite a challenge, since you could not take the medicine during the day hence you're expected to recover much later than usual. And was quite irritated with the medicine package that said `makan empat kali sehari'.How can I actually do that?? Well, the nurses were just doing their job anyway.

So besides lied down covered with warm blanket and slept until my head spinning (well, you could not do much activities anyway), I surfed and bloghopped everywhere, looking for delicious pieces of news that I've missed every now and then (due to piling work and lack of internet connection after office hours).

So do click on the followings to read my favourites:

(if you can't access MalaysiaKini, do click here and read the excerpt on the August 27 post)
(this one is very good, an eye-opener)
If you find other interesting blogs, don't forget to share with me :)
Salam Ramadhan~

Hidayah?

Salam and good day.

One fine day, someone very close to me asked me this question out of the sudden:

"Macam mana nak dapat hidayah?"
(In Islamic context, hidayah means guidance and leadership as given by Allah as referred here)
Ermm.Simple but yet a very hard question.I've asked this question so many times, I always had the answer in my mind, but when I was asked by another person, I still felt awkward. On a spontaneous act to ease the seriousness, I felt like asking the person back "Erm, hidayah yang mana ni? Yang cousin tu ke.." but I hold that back. I know I had to answer the question.

My mind raced fast, thinking for the best way to answer this question.

"I think the best way is to regularly mingle with pious people, attend ceramah, tazkirah, usrah - all sorts of religious and knowledge ceremonies, read good books and articles, always ask reliable people questions that wandered in our mind. And do all these continuously."

My heart prayed for Allah to forgive me, to give me strength, for me not only just talk, but walk the talk.

Why I emphasized on the word, CONTINUOUSLY?

As our iman is not always constant, sometimes it is high and sometimes its low, like tides. Have you ever experienced the followings:

1. One day you can finish up to twenty pages of Al Quran, and some other day you felt too lazy to just recite only a half page of the holy book?

2. One day you can fulfill all the common solat sunat - Taubat, Hajat, Tahajud, Witr along with lengthy wirid and doa, while some other day you were so reluctant for just a short doa after your prayer?

3. One day you can donate hundreds of ringgit to help the needy, but some other day you were so hesitant to just drop a RM 2 note in a mosque' donation box?

Honestly, I had experienced all the above, and perhaps many other similar occurences in my daily life.

Let asked ourselves another big question : Why is this happening? Why is our iman acts like tide? I've asked Mr Google.com and found these reasons :

I purposely retain the article in Bahasa Melayu as I'm having difficulties in translating it entirely, and for fear it might change the real meaning. Will try harder to improve and find good, understandable article in English, perhaps in the future.

I guess the question why, we have to do all good deeds continuously to retain our iman and get guidance from Allah (hidayah) are well explained in the article. May we maximize this blessed month of Ramadhan with good deeds continuously, insya Allah.

Salam Ramadhan :)

Convo Tributes

Assalamualaikum wbt and good day.

Its been a week after my convocation day last weekend. Of course, this day would be the happiest day for all whom successfully graduating, but for me this day was best to feel blessed, that Allah gave us the opportunity to celebrate the day with our love ones, say family and friends.
At first I was quite reluctant to share this in the blog, because hey, all people are graduating, some of them uploaded the details immediately after they received the scroll. So my details would be eventually almost the same as them, right? But then, I kept having images of a few people that deserved the appreciations, hence the entry although a week late.
This day marked as the most memorable day, not only because most of my family were there. My bro could not make it as he's having a major test on the next day, but his short SMS : `Oit, sorry takpat dtg. Sok ade test.Congrats.I'm proud of you' really made my day.
Also, meeting long lost friends whom now pursuing their career with own different way; some even came as a wife/husband, or a fiancee. Well that marked another milestone in their life too, and I'm happy for them. (ok, don't start..).And also a surprise from my two best friends, who came all the way from KL to celebrate my day. Thanks guys, million appreciations! I definitely (insya Allah) will come to yours.

Hrm, what else? Special appreciation for my lovely sisters who sponsored my acommodation during the event, as I knew that its best to hit their places and shared million of stories than renting some hotel in town. Also, for those who became my means of transportation durign the three days, many thanks.

Heartiest gratitudes also go to my parents for their support and encouragements, also for my sponsor for helping to ease the burden and creating young pool of talents for the future.Yes friends, eventhough how much hassle we experienced and how much hatred we had for many reasons and problems, they still deserved the most for helping us to gain what we have right now.

Not to forget to the receipients of the three Chancellor Awards, congratulations as I believe you guys most deserved the highest appreciation as you outshine the rest. Also to the Rector Award winners, may all of you become the role model for the juniors and may they achieve if not better, equal with your success.

Although the convocation was held after eight months of my working life, despite having only a few photos due to myself unintentionally (cubaan untuk tidak mengaku salah) not bringing extra battery pack for my camera, I still think this event was a memory that would be treasured for all my life.
Thanks Allah, thanks Ma and Abah, thanks all.

Dilema

2. Siapa nak jaga kura-kura tersebut? Kalo kat rumah, keluar rumah pagi, balik malam.. (bolehkah bela pet kat ofis? Yet to ask respective personnel). Risau kura-kura kekurangan kasih sayang.
3. Risau kejadian tiga tahun lalu berulang kembali (kematian kura-kura yang baru dibela 2 minggu. Susah nak bela kura-kura kecik ni, sangat sensitif)

Sekian.

HUJAH

Salam and good day.

Semalam sempat tengok HUJAH di tv9, antara Nik Nazmi (PKR, ADUN Seri Setia) dengan Datuk Ahmad Fuad Zarkashi (BN, ADUN Batu Pahat).

Impresi pertama
(saya ni memang dah mindset untuk sentiasa mengambil positive and negative side at once, jadi tak salah saya berharapan macam tu kan?).

Seterusnya

Rentetan Anwar dipenjara jadi PKR menang tahun 1999 sebab emosi, orang bersimpati kat Wan Azizah. Tahun 2004, sebab emosi jugak PKR menang. Juga tahun 2008, rakyat beremosi maka jadilah tsunami politik. PR menang bukan stakat di Permatang Pauh, tapi siap ambil alih beberapa kerajaan negeri. Come on la, kami rakyat ni taklah bodoh sangat kan.. pilih kerajaan hanya sebab simpati dan beremosi.

Kesimpulan
Apa-apa pun baguslah dah banyak program macam ni, debat perdana, hujah, forum.. at least kita (rakyat) boleh tengok macam mana pemimpin ni berhujah.

I kind of agree with his point of view.
Do you?

(note : saya juga bukanlah golongan anti-Anwar, neither vice-versa. Just seeing the world in different perspective :)
