Victimized?

Salam.

Sometimes we do feel depressed, as if the whole world is against us.

Our parents didn't call, our SMSes were ignored, our lecturers gave tonnes of assignments, projects and works, our marks in tests were not so promising..even our friends were not supporting us all this while.Why these things happened in one time, in a `package?'

The most inappropriate reaction that we always felt is, to feel victimized by the situation. We think we're the only one faced tough times in life, while the others are enjoying our hardship. We tend to be too defensive, as if all people's reactions to us are meant to hurt us. Even a helping hand offered by a colleugue may be interpreted as threat to us. We may feel humiliated by this, as if this indicates that we are not capable to handle our own problems. Then we start to make harsh comments or unsuitable remarks to others, normally without any intention. At this stage, we often lose our rationale and empathy, we automatically blame others for all this thinfs that happened to us.And without knowing that we might, often unintentionally, hurt the others whom were very close to us.

Well, it is normal for people to behave like this when they feel depressed.But unfortunately, people always forget to learn the art of coping with tense and depression. By making ourself as a victim in everything, it won't solve any problem.Infact, it will create more. We must agree with a fact of life that everything happened for some reasons.Always remember that there's always a rainbow after a heavy rainstorm.If we're less motivated by these fancy words and sentences, just do whatever that can reduce your stress.If you feels better to scream on top of your long in open air, then DO IT.If you feels better to share your thoughts and problems with you bestfriend, then DO IT.And also, if your burden can be decreased by bursting into tears until you fall asleep, then hey, JUST DO IT.

For me personally, I always believe ALLAH made all these hardship to strengthen our beliefs and faith to Him. The Almighty grants us with this challenging life to educate us, and for us to be nearer to Him. The good thing of being depressed or stressed out is, we will always get back to basic, as a powerless, humble believer, whom life is fully controlled by a super power(The Almighty), and not by ourselves. He can always give us beautiful, perfect life if He wants to.Yet, He make us learn the hard way so we will appreciate more.

So let's learn to appreciate the hard life...

My new pet

Recently I've adopted a new pet.
(Kepada kawan-kawan seangkatan, tak payah bagitau binatang apa hangpa leh teka dah;P)

Perkenalkan...

(by the way, nama binatang ni di ilhamkan oleh Kak Aisyah dan di enhancedkan lagi oleh Amie.Ambik dah bagi kredit kat dua-dua.Huhu)

Bukan apa, saja teringat segala jenis binatang peliharaan yang saya pernah bela.Bukan banyak pun, seingat saya, saya pernah bela tiga ekor anak tupai dari kecik sampai la dah liar dan takleh contain dalam picnic basket.Kemudian seekor kucing yang melahirkan dua generasi kucing(dalam 3-4 ekor).Yang generasi terakhir,nama dia Comel.Dia merajuk sebab saya sekeluarga pindah rumah sementara dan tak bawak dia (sebab dia sibuk mengorat kucing-kucng betina sebelah rumah la).Yang paling baru pun tahun lepas, 2 ekor kura-kura yang dibela atas meja, akhirnya meninggal dunia selepas 2 minggu dibela kerana penyakit kulit (at least inilah conclusion saya selepas post mortem kematian mereka.Walaupun potensi lebih besar adalah kerana terlebih klorin di dalam air).

I always had this strange passion to binatang, sampai pernah dulu saya bercita-cita nak jadi vet sebab nanti boleh jumpa banyak binatang.Atau kerja kat zoo.Best!

Yang sebenarnya, binatang ni pun makhluk Allah juga.Kita kena sayangi.OK la kalau tak suka pun, at least kalau jumpa kucing tepi jalan tu jangan laa saja-saja sepak atau pijak ekor dia. Kalau kita bagi makan kat kucing atau hatta anjing tepi jalan sekalipun, dapat pahala juga sebab berbuat baik sesama makhluk.

Pernah dengar tak kisah ni?

Rasulullah s.a.w. pernah menceritakan kepada para sahabatnya tentang seorang laki-laki yang menjumpai seekor anjing melolong kerana kehausan, kemudian dia membuka kasutnya dan mengisikan dengan air untuk memberi minum anjing tersebut sehingga merasa puas.

Kemudian Rasulullah s.a.w. bersabda: "Maka Allah berterima kasih kepada orang itu (kerana pertolongannya) serta mengampuninya. Lantas para sahabat bertanya: Apakah ada pahalanya kerana binatang ya Rasulullah? Jawab Nabi: Dalam tiap hati yang masih basah ada pahalanya." (Riwayat Bukhari)

Hebatkan? Oleh itu, sayangilah binatang di sekeliling anda..

BERKAT doa dan keinginan yang kuat serta dorongan daripada keluarga akhirnya Tengku Puan Pahang, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Sultan Iskandar memilih untuk memakai tudung kepala.

Beliau berkata, hasrat untuk memakai tudung menjadi impiannya sejak zaman remaja, tetapi ia hanya menjadi kenyataan selepas pulang daripada menunaikan ibadat haji di Makkah awal tahun ini.


"Sebagai wanita Islam saya mempunyai hasrat untuk memakai tudung kepala, tetapi hasrat saya itu belum menjadi kenyataan daripada zaman remaja hinggalah saya berkahwin dan mempunyai anak. Bagaimanapun saya tidak berhenti berdoa kepada Allah untuk memakai tudung kerana bertudung dan menutup aurat adalah suatu yang wajib bagi seseorang wanita beragama Islam."Selain berdoa selepas menunaikan solat, saya juga berdoa ketika menunaikan ibadat haji yang pertama ketika saya belum berkahwin dan doa itu diteruskan ketika saya menunaikan ibadat haji pada kali kedua ketika berusia 32 tahun," katanya kepada Berita Harian ketika ditemui di Kuantan.Tengku Puan Pahang berkata, setiap kali menunaikan ibadat haji di Makkah, beliau akan berdoa untuk memakai tudung seperti mana dilakukan wanita Islam lain.Suaminya, Tengku Mahkota Pahang, Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah pernah menasihatkannya supaya memakai tudung, tetapi hatinya masih belum terbuka untuk memakainya.


Selain itu, beliau berkata, hatinya turut merasa malu apabila mengadakan lawatan ke kampung di seluruh Pahang apabila mendapati wanita yang menyambut kedatangannya semuanya memakai tudung."Saya rasa malu kerana wanita berkenaan nampak kemas memakai tudung, sedangkan saya masih tidak bertudung. Bagaimanapun ketika itu, hati saya masih belum terbuka untuk bertudung, sehinggalah saya pergi menunaikan ibadat haji bersama suami pada awal tahun ini, Allah membuka pintu hati saya untuk memakai tudung."Saya gembira kerana berjaya memakai tudung kepala sejak pulang dari tanah suci itu hingga ke hari ini dan akan terus memakainya hingga ke akhir hayat," katanya.


Tengku Puan mengakui semua ahli keluarganya, terutama suami dan putera puterinya melahirkan rasa senang hati melihat beliau memakai tudung."Anak saya sendiri, Tengku Hasanal Ibrahim Alam Shah juga sentiasa memuji saya dengan mengatakan ‘mama nampak cun dan kemaslah sejak pakai tudung’,” katanya.Beliau berkata, pujian dan dorongan daripada keluarga menjadikannya sentiasa gembira apabila mengenakan tudung, terutama apabila menghadiri pelbagai program yang diadakan di seluruh negeri ini.

Bila rindu..

Kadang-kadang rindu ini datang.
Kehadirannya membawa sejuta memori indah, walaupun pengalaman ini dah tiga tahun berlalu.Seperti sekarang, rindu kepada bumi suci Madinah al Munawwarah ini bertandang lagi. Akhirnya saya berjaya menemui kembali beberapa koleksi gambar untuk diabadikan di sini..

Masjid Nabawi sangat indah.Gambar ini saya ambil selepas selesai solat Subuh dan ibadah sunat yang lain, dalam jam 8.30 pagi. Orang pun tak berapa ramai sangat.Masjid ni dah beberapa kali dibesarkan untuk menampung jumlah jemaah haji/umrah yang meningkat saban tahun.

Hadis Nabi s.a.w : `Solat di Masjid Nabawi 1000 kali lebih baik dari solat di tempat lain kecuali di Masjidilharam'.Sungguh, aura beribadah di masjid ini sangat lain dari yang lain.Yang istimewanya kita boleh menziarah ke makam Nabi di dalam Masjid ini, juga bersolat di Raudhah- satu kawasan kecil masjid bersebelahan dengan tapak rumah Nabi, diriwayatkan kawasan ini adalah satu taman dari taman-taman syurga.Subhanallah~

Inilah Jabal Uhud.Rasulullah pernah bersabda `Jabal Uhud cintakan kita, dan kita cintakan Jabal Uhud'.Juga diriwayatkan bukit ini pernah bergegar apabila Rasulullah, Saidina Abu Bakar, Saidina Umar dan Saidina Uthman radiallahu anhu berdiri di atasnya.Di kaki bukit suci ini bersemadinya bapa saudara Nabi, Hamzah- Singa Allah dan para shuhada yang terkorban dalam perang Uhud. Memang ramai orang, dan saya tak sempat nak naik ke puncak bukit sebab sangat panas dan penat..=P

Gerai kurma berdekatan Jabal Uhud.Saya, Ma dan Abah tak ketinggalan untuk sesi merasa-rasa kurma.Tapi kami tak beli pun..hehe

Majid Qiblatain.Di masjid inilah semasa Rasulullah sedang solat 2 rakaat, turunnya wahyu dari Allah untuk menukar kiblat daripada menghadap ke Masjid Al-Aqsa, BaitulMuqaddis ke Ka'abah, Makkah Al Mukarramah.Jadinya masjid ini turut dikenali sebagai masjid 2 kiblat.

Masjid Quba, 2 km dari Masjid Nabawi. Masjid pertama yang Rasulullah dirikan apabila tiba di Madinah semasa peristiwa hijrah.Cantikkan?Pure white. Yang bagusnya kerajaan Arab Saudi memang memelihara masjid-masjid sekitar Madinah dan Mekah sebab kawasan-kawasan ini sentiasa dikunjungi oleh jemaah haji dan umrah.

Pasar kurma di Madinah..banyak sangat spesis kurma kat sini! tapi yang paling best mestilah kurma fresh dari ladang..biasanya diletakkan dalam peti ais pastu terus makan.bestt!

Ya Rasulullah, sungguh rindu nak menjejak kaki semula ke bumi suci tempat dirimu bersemadi.Semoga diri ini dikurniakan kesempatan lagi untuk berkunjung ke kota yang bercahaya ini di masa akan datang..

(ini juga seruan kepada diri sendiri untuk kumpul duit dari sekarang, semoga berkesempatan datang lagi untuk ibadah haji pula...Ameen~ hehe=)

Need HELP

Salam and good day to all,

I just found out my high school friend needs help for her cancer treatment (thanks to another friend, Machit who forwarded the newspaper link).Yes, she's 22 and she's suffering from bone cancer which infected her left leg. Whether a RM32,000 treatment, or she will lost her leg.

Meanwhile, I am trying to contact her and get her account number, so that any interested personnel can help her in terms of monetary as soon as possible. Also some friends had promise to pay her a visit soon to check on her current condition.

So, to whoever read this message, please help and spread to the others, especially for the Eightyfivers of SMS Tuanku Jaafar, Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan.Your keen concern and help will make a major impact in someone's life.

The rest, please help to pray for her health and may Allah grants her patience and solid strength to face the hard times of life.

Tribute to a friend

Assalamualaikum,
I've longed to write about this but only now I could find a perfect time to do it.

Have you been to an ICU ward before? I had, just recently, about a month ago.I never been there before, so the thought and sound of it creates eerie feelings inside me. The word ICU reminds me of the scenes in House MD or even CSI, where injured and VERY very sick people are cured and taken care of in the highest alertness of the staffs.

I went there on Sunday with two of my colleugues, to visit a friend known during our internship in the northern region. The next day we were going to have a test, but nevertheless, this thing is far beyond important.It was URGENT.

The news that we received is that this poor girl was admitted to the hospital when she fell unconscious at home, after a long, unusual fever. In one week's time, her condition turned from bad to worse, due to heavily infected lungs (well, that was what the doctor said). At first, I could not quite believe it, since the girl that I know is very bubbly, always smile and very healthy. And now she was in ICU for a week, straight? That was quite beyond my imagination.

But then as I enter the ward, OK let me describe the ward first.This is a government's hospital so please don't expect a first class service and everything.The ICU ward placed about 10 to 12 people. Relatives and friends who wish to enter the room should wear a smock and of course, shoe-less. If the visitors wish to touch the patient, they must wash their hands before and after they touch to avoid germs and unexpected infection.

As we finally successfully located our dear friend in the ward, well I was in a state of shocked. Real shocked, eventhough I've prepared myself for the situation.She was lying there, helpless, crippled with tubes and wires all attached to her body from the machine that produced some weird sounds. Nurses were busy taking readings and jotting informations on their cards, while we stood there, observing our dear friend. She seemed to be unconscious, and I still stared at her, unable to do anything.

Friend : Nurse, keadaan dia macam mana ye?
Nurse : Teruk dik, dia tenat.
Friend : Takde perubahan langsung ke?
Nurse : Takde, masih sama, tenat.Bersabar la banyak-banyak ye.

Fortunately my colleugue stayed in control, and immediately took out theYassin.We began reciting surah Yassin, eventhough initially I found it very difficult to stabilize my voice so that I could recite it right. Trembling and all, we managed to do it for the sake of our friend.It felt awkward at the beginning since usually visitors were not allowed to stay for long in the ward, since only limited people should be in the ward for one time.

In the mid of the recitation, one of my friend begin to cry. Luckily a nurse gave us a chair, so she could sit and settled down for a while.Emotions washed out all of us, and almost to the end of our recitation, we noticed our crippled friend moved a bit and opened her eyes. This time, all of us failed to contained our tears, eventhough we knew that it was unwise to cry in front of a patient. The reverse- psychology should be applied, yes we have to smile, talk and laugh for her to gain her survival spirit back. As we smiled and talked to her, still tears streamed down our face.The atmosphere at that time was so..EMOTIONAL.She was unable to reply what we said, due to many tubes attached to her mouth and face.She just nodded and tried to speak to us, but she failed eventually.Our heart broke, but deep down we resist to accept the truth that she was in her worst condition.

Later it was time to leave the ward. Still I could not speak much to her, cause when I tried to utter a word, I just could not control my emotion. Lastly we gave her some last words and promise that we will always pray for her, no matter what.After that, we had a long chat with her mom and sister whom equipped us with detail information about her condition, before we head back to our campus.

Well, the reason I told this story in great detail, is just to share with you the feelings I had when I went to the ICU ward, to visit my friend. I felt so vulnerable, fragile, insaf sangat and at this time, I started to wonder; what if this happen to me? How will I react? How I can deal with this tough situation? How it affected not only me, but the family, friends and the love ones? Senang cerita, pengalaman ni sangat menginsafkan and affected me personally, for now I realize how small and powerless we are, compared to the ultimate power of the Almighty.

Jadi, kita yang sihat sekarang ni kena sedar, tak selamanya kita akan sihat.Tak selamanya kita akan hidup senang, kaya-raya, muda remaja dan sebagainya. Tiba masanya apabila Allah nak menguji, berdoalah kita sentiasa tabah untuk menghadapi segala ujian dan cabaran-Nya.Bak kata seorang senior saya, kita jangan berdoa Allah permudahkan atau ringankan ujianNya, tapi kita doalah Allah perkuatkan diri kita untuk menghadapi segala cabaran dan dugaan yang mendatang.

That was a month ago.Now, with Allah's wills and blesses, she recovered from her disease successfully and now she'd discharged from the hospital.Dah boleh makan ayam KFC dah.Sounds miracle, but that was Allah's gift to His believer...also, we heard that her upcoming wedding will still be held as usual, perhaps around May. So congratulations, friend. And always be tough and patient throughout the life. We are always here to support you...

Assalamualaikum,
menuntut ilmu akademik adalah fardhu kifayah bagi semua Muslim. Sehinggakan ada seorang ustaz pernah memberitahu, kita ni contohnya yang sedang belajar kejuruteraan (dalam kes saya, elektrik dan elektronik) , adalah WAJIB mempelajari kursus ini. Sebabnya, cuba kita bayangkan kalau satu masa nanti tiada langsung jurutera muslim untuk mengembangkan tamadun dan teknologi manusia ni. Siapa yang akan jadi jurutera?Takkan kita perlu harapkan non-muslim sahaja untuk mendominasi kemajuan dunia ini? Habis tu orang-orang Islam akan jadi apa?

Satu lagi, Rasulullah pernah berpesan,`ilmu itu umpama barang yang hilang bagi orang mukmin.Sekiranya kamu berjumpa di mana- mana, maka ambillah ia'. Maksudnya di sini, kita perlulah mengembalikan kembali kegemilangan ilmuan Islam yang telah lenyap sejak beratus ribu dahulu. Ilmuan Islam dahulu yang menciptakan basic ilmu2 moden yang kita belajar sekarang ni, tapi kita sekarang macam mana? Apa ye teknologi yang kita dah ciptakan untuk zaman sekarang ni? (Eheh macam takde je..banyak saintis-saintis barat je kan?)

Oleh yang demikian, janganlah kita merungut atau membebel sebab kita busy dengan kerja akademik.Assignment, reports, research, projects- semua tu kena la dibuat dengan ikhlas.Kalau ikhlas, insya Allah susah payah kita takkan sia-sia.Allah akan balas nanti kan kan?
Maka marilah kita membuat assignment, reports, projects semua dengan hati yang gembira..

(Haha pos untuk motivasi diri sebab rasa nak menjerit je banyak sgt kerja.Dan untuk menjelaskan juga kenapa saya lama sangat tak update blog.Anda semua termotivasi tak??Hehe)

Salam Keputeraan buat Rasul Junjungan

Sabtu lalu merupakan hari Maulidurrasul yang disambut oleh kebanyakan penduduk Islam di seluruh dunia.Sejak akhir-akhir ini, saya perasan memang sambutan Maulidurrasul peringkat kebangsaan dan sambutan-sambutan lain macam Maal Hijrah pun hanya dibuat dalam dewan.Dah tiada perarakan macam dulu-dulu.Dalam satu segi eloklah tu, tak perlu membazir buat kostum atau pakaian seragam untuk perbarisan, kena praktis lagi.Sambutan sebegini bukan diukur dengan tahap kemeriahan, tapi sejauh mana penghayatan seseorang itu terhadap hari kelahiran junjungan besar kita Nabi Muhammad sallallahu ‘alaihi wasalam.

Saya pula, kebetulan baru menghabiskan biografi Nabi Muhammad bin Abdullah versi bahasa Melayu.Jadi saya mengambil peluang berkongsi ilmu dengan sahabat-sahabat selepas Subuh di pagi Sabtu itu, juga berkongsi kisah serba sedikit dengan adik-adik junior. Hajat di hati ingin membangkitkan kembali perasaan cinta dan kasih kepada Rasulullah dan menghayati perjuangan baginda yang bersusah payah hingga tertegaknya Islam di muka bumi.

Sangat seronok apabila dapat recap kembali sorotan sirah baginda Rasulullah, sebab kisah perjuangan baginda itu cukup lengkap dan sempurna untuk kita sebagai umat mengambil iktibar dan pengajaran. Kita ni apabila diduga dengan sedikit ujian, dah mula melenting, marah-marah rebel, protes dan sebagainya.Sedangkan Nabi yang dibaling batu di bumi Taif sehingga berdarah kaki baginda dalam usaha baginda untuk berdakwah, pun baginda sanggup menolak tawaran malaikat untuk menterbalikkan bukit untuk menghukum penduduk Taif atas kebiadapan mereka. Sebaliknya baginda mendoakan agar jika tidak penduduk Taif sekarang, mungkin anak cucu mereka pula yang akan beriman kepada Allah.Demikian mulianya akhlak Rasulullah..

Satu lagi yang sangat signifikan dalam pengajian sirah adalah kita boleh mengetahui tahap kecintaan sahabat-sahabat kepada Rasulullah, dan ukur pula dengan diri kita sendiri. Antara peristiwa yang amat terkesan dalam jiwa saya adalah apabila Rasulullah wafat, Umar Al Khattab tidak dapat menerima kewafatan baginda. Beliau terus mengatakan yang pesuruh Nabi akan kembali,dan beliau akan memancung sesiapa yang mengatakan Pesuruh Allah telah wafat. Sedangkan Abu Bakar yang sifatnya tenang, menenteramkan keadaan dan terus naik ke atas mimbar.Beliau terus menyampaikan kata:

“Barang siapa yang menyembah Muhammad, Muhammad sudah mati.Barang siapa menyembah Allah, sesungguhnya Allah itu hidup dan tidak mati.”
Seterusnya beliau sambung dengan membaca ayat 144 dari surah Al Imran yang bermaksud,

“Dan Muhammad itu tidak lain hanyalah seorang Rasul yang sudah pun didahului oleh beberapa orang Rasul yang mati atau terbunuh.Jika demikian, kalau ia pula mati atau terbunuh, patutkan kamu berbalik berpaling tadah dan menjadi orang kafir? Dan ingatlah, sesiapa yang berbalik menjadi kafir maka ia tidak akan mendatangkan mudarat kepada Allah sedikitpun.Dan sebaliknya Allah akan memberi balasan pahala kepada orang-orang yang bersyukur akan nikmat Islam yang tiada tolok bandingannya itu.”

Umar yang mendengar kata-kata ini terus jatuh terduduk dan berkata, “Apakah ayat ini ada dalam Al Quran”. Walaupun beliau hafal Al-Quran,tetapi kerana ujian yang terlalu besar dan kejutan ini, Umar yang gagah hilang pertimbangan seketika.

Lihatlah betapa kasihnya sahabat-sahabat kepada Rasulullah.Sedangkan kita bagaimana? Apa yang kita lakukan untuk menunjukkan kecintaan kita terhadap manusia paling mulia, kekasih Allah ini?

Teringat kata-kata seorang junior saya sebagai respon setelah saya kongsi kan kisah ini.Dia berkata, kita ni memang ramai yang bila ditanya, semua mengaku idola maisng-masing adalah Rasulullah, tapi apa yang kita tahu tentang kekasih Allah ni sebenarnya? Ke hanya sembang kosong semata-mata?

Jadi marilah kita mula mendalami sirah Nabi, kalau yang tak berapa biasa tu cubalah sikit-sikit.Kalau buku Harry Potter ke, Sophie Kinsella ke, Stephen Covey ke boleh habis dengan cepat, kenapa tak buku sirah Rasulullah? Tak perlu la terus mengkhatamkan sirah Nabi dari kelahiran hingga kewafatan baginda sekaligus, buat la sekadar mampu.Semoga baginda nanti turut looking forward untuk bertemu kita sebagaimana kita ingin sangat bertemu baginda di akhirat kelak..

The FAKE World

These are the butterflies that were used on my bro's hantaran for his engagement day a few months ago.

Beautiful, aren't they?
But they were FAKE.
Yes, FAKE.
Yet they looked so real and almost every bit as similar to the real one.
So where's the tricky part in the above statement, anyway?

I see the picture above as a metaphor for our world, our recent life today.
Yup, this world seems to be so beautiful, nice, captivative, tempting and all, thus people tend to put world or their life as their golden goal in everything they do.

For example, people work everyday, and surely they aim to get money.Perhaps if they perfom well in their job, they will get promoted, and of course, more money will come pouring to them.
Even the benchmark of successful people these days are based on how much money or assets they have.So money is the point here, and it is for the (so-called) benefit of our life, no doubt of that. With the money we buy designer clothes, spacious house in elite housing area, luxurious cars, million worth of jewelleries and etcera. Later, when we leave this world for good, all the money will stay in this world and perhaps will be inherited by our next of kin.In other word, we will leave everything we own in this world, and die alone anyway. So what are the use of the wealth and assets we own in our life? And tell me, how does the money can assure us to be safe in the here after?

Come on, please realise that the world that we living now is nothing but a FAKE illusion.It won't last for long.The eternal, and the ever REAL condition for us is in the HEREAFTER, and just a matter of HEAVEN or HELL.

So guys (and myself), please, make our life worthy for the sake of the REAL world that we are going to face, sooner or later.

Slow Down Culture

It’s been 18 years since I joined Volvo, a Swedish company. Working for them has proven to be an interesting experience. Any project here takes 2 years to be finalized, even if the idea is simple and brilliant. It’s a rule.

Globalize processes have caused in us (all over the world) a general sense of searching for immediate results. Therefore, we have come to posses a need to see immediate results. This contrasts greatly with the slow movements of the Swedish. They, on the other hand, debate, debate, debate, hold x quantity of meetings and work with a slowdown scheme. At the end, this always yields better results.

Said in another words:1. Sweden is about the size of San Pablo, a state in Brazil.2. Sweden has 2 million inhabitants.3. Stockholm, has 500,000 people.4. Volvo, Escania, Ericsson, Electrolux, Nokia are some of its renowned companies. Volvo supplies the NASA.

The first time I was in Sweden, one of my colleagues picked me up at the hotel every morning. It was September, bit cold and snowy. We would arrive early at the company and he would park far away from the entrance (2000 employees drive their car to work). The first day, I didn’t say anything, either the second or third. One morning I asked, “Do you have a fixed parking space? I’ve noticed we park far from the entrance even when there are no other cars in the lot.” To which he replied, “Since we’re here early we’ll have time to walk, and whoever gets in late will be late and need a place closer to the door. Don’t you think?” Imagine my face.

Nowadays, there’s a movement in Europe name Slow Food. This movement establishes that people should eat and drink slowly, with enough time to taste their food, spend time with the family, friends, without rushing. Slow Food is against its counterpart: the spirit of Fast Food and what it stands for as a lifestyle. Slow Food is the basis for a bigger movement called Slow Europe, as mentioned by Business Week.

Basically, the movement questions the sense of “hurry” and “craziness” generated by globalization, fueled by the desire of “having in quantity” (life status) versus “having with quality”, “life quality” or the “quality of being”. French people, even though they work 35 hours per week, are more productive than Americans or British. Germans have established 28.8 hour workweeks and have seen their productivity been driven up by 20%. This slow attitude has brought forth the US’s attention, pupils of the fast and the “do it now!”.

This no-rush attitude doesn’t represent doing less or having a lower productivity. It means working and doing things with greater quality, productivity, perfection, with attention to detail and less stress. It means reestablishing family values, friends, free and leisure time. Taking the “now”, present and concrete, versus the “global”, undefined and anonymous. It means taking humans’ essential values, the simplicity of living.

It stands for a less coercive work environment, more happy, lighter and more productive where humans enjoy doing what they know best how to do. It’s time to stop and think on how companies need to develop serious quality with no-rush that will increase productivity and the quality of products and services, without losing the essence of spirit.

In the movie, Scent of a Woman, there’s a scene where Al Pacino asks a girl to dance and she replies, “I can’t, my boyfriend will be here any minute now”. To which Al responds, “A life is lived in an instant”. Then they dance to a tango.

Many of us live our lives running behind time, but we only reach it when we die of a heart attack or in a car accident rushing to be on time. Others are so anxious of living the future that they forget to live the present, which is the only time that truly exists. We all have equal time throughout the world. No one has more or less. The difference lies in how each one of us does with our time. We need to live each moment. As John Lennon said, “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans”.

Congratulations for reading till the end of this message. There are many who will have stopped in the middle so as not to waste time in this globalized world.

Berita tentang 10 pasangan orang asli yang berkahwin serentak amat menarik perhatian saya.Pertamanya kerana mereka ini muda-muda belaka, malah yang paling muda dilaporkan berumur 13 tahun! Kalau ikut perkiraan kontemporari, baru tingkatan satu pun sudah berkahwin! Tapi memang realiti masyarakat mereka, selepas darjah 6,amat sedikit sekali yang sambung belajar di peringkat sekolah menengah dan seterusnya institut pengajian tinggi.

Kredit harus diberikan kepada Jabatan Hal Ehwal Agama Terengganu (JHEAT) kerana mengambil inisiatif ini,iaitu memberikan alternatif untuk menghalalkan hubungan antara dua insan iaitu dengan pernikahan. Ini sekaligus dapat menerapkan nilai-nilai keagamaan kepada masyarakat orang asli yang mungkin kurang didedahkan dengan halal-haramnya hubungan sesama lelaki dan wanita, serta bab-bab ilmu alam rumah tangga secara Islamik kerana difahamkan mereka turut mengikuti kursus perkahwinan selama seminggu sebelum berkahwin.Juga tahniah kepada ibu bapa mereka yang `sporting' dan memahami keperluan anak-anak mereka untuk berkahwin, walaupun usia masing-masing masih muda.

Di sini kita boleh refleksi diri, kita ni macam mana? Sedangkan masyarakat orang asli pun mempunyai kesedaran untuk meminimumkan pergaulan sosial tanpa batasan dengan berkahwin.Kita yang kononnya sudah faham dan siap belajar bab-bab munakahat sewaktu sekolah menengah, masih tiada kesedaran.Buktinya, telah menjadi budaya anak-anak muda kita untuk bercouple atau `ttm' (teman tapi mesra) dengan rakan berlainan jantina, tapi bila tanya adakah mempunyai hasrat atau niat untuk berkahwin, majoritinya akan menolak serta merta.Tak bersedialah, belum sampai masalah, masih mudalah.. macam-macam alasan diberikan.Apa perlunya bercouple, bercinta bagai nak rak dan sebagainya tapi akhirnya tak kahwin pun ?

Mungkin satu keadaan masyarakat orang asli ni yang saya kira menjadi kelebihan bagi mereka dalam satu segi, ialah disebabkan mereka rata-rata kurang berpelajaran tinggi, mereka lebih matang berbanding usia mereka yang sebenar.Baru belasan tahun, dah memahami keperluan perkahwinan dan menyara keluarga sendiri.Jadi kahwin muda bagi mereka bukanlah satu masalah.Bukanlah saya obses nak menyeru semua orang supaya kahwin muda (sebab saya pun belum berkahwin juga!), tapi yang lebih penting bagi saya adalah meminimumkan gejala sosial yang berlaku disebabkan ramai anak muda tidak sedar atau buat-buat tak sedar dalam hal ini.Sampaikan ramai beranggapan couple tu halal, berteman tapi mesra dengan rakan lawan jantina tidak salah, keluar berdua-duaan tu betul dan bersentuhan/berpegangan tangan adalah perlakuan sporting dan mengikut trend!! (masya Allah..)

Jadi dari aspek ini, saya ingin mengajak kita semua berfikir, siapa lebih civilized (bertamadun) pemikirannya, kita ke masyarakat orang asli??

Barley: Good for fever in a soup form.

Melon: Melon contains 1000 blessings and 1000 mercies, The prophet SAW said "None of your women who are pregnant and eat of water melon will fail to produce off spring who are good in counternanace and good in character.

Pomegranate: The Prophet(SAW) said it cleanse you of Satan and evil aspirations for 40 days.

Water: the Prophet(SAW) said the best drink in this world and the next is
Water, when you are thirsty drink it by sips and not gulps, gulping produces sickness of the
liver.

Test Week Edition

THE DREADED WEEK HAS COME.

(OK, I'm exaggerating a bit.But it is TRUE.At least for me)

This week I have three tests in a row, and I am yet to start even one of them.I am so NOT motivated to start studying since there is a pile of never-ending assignments, reports and and research need to be done in my checklist.

And suddenly I found this interesting link which emphasized on the latest consequence management policy(well, sort of) (that will be)implemented by my scholarship host :

Well, does the policy rings a bell to you?

Yup, that's the one we were alerted of during the scholarship briefing a few weeks back. It states the general requirements that all scholars must obey, the procedure after graduation and the most important thing is the situations of which your scholarship is at stake for achieving CGPA of 2.5 and below.

Sounds frightening at first.

But when you think of it in depth, well, it does make sense.Personally for me, getting a minimum of CGPA of 2.5, or even 3.0 is always always possible provided you put some effort in your studies.In other words, no matter how busy(or lazy) you are, or how low is your coursework marks at the end of the semester, if you ever make some effort to study and aim to score minimum grades in your examination, you would never get below CGPA of 2.5 ( ok, without considering odd facts or some special cases).

And realistically, which scholarship host is willing to sponsor low achiever students, whereas its main objectives is to provide a potential human resource for the sake of its own company?

So by doing this, I think the students will take this matter more seriously and avoid the risk of being at stake. Without the scholarship offered, I am convinced that more than 50% of the university's population will suffer since we all know that IPTS fees are way too high compared to IPTA.

Don't question whether the charges are relevant or not, just make sure you're safe and sound here.Find time to study and reduce social and non- academical or non-beneficial activities.Never mess with your scholarship host or you will regret it for life.

Kesimpulan: Jadi, janganlah kita bermalas-malasan dan perlulah kita start study demi kesejahteraan masa hadapan.

(Oh ye, I forgot to highlight the best part.The best part is I will NEVER be impacted by any means, since it will only be effective in January 2008.
Jadi, all the best dan chayo-chayo ye adik-adik juniorku.Heehee..)
